What is the biggest safety risk of an old furnace?

The most significant danger is a cracked heat exchanger, which can leak deadly carbon monoxide (CO) gas into your home. This risk increases substantially with the age of the furnace.

How much more efficient is a new furnace?

Modern high-efficiency furnaces can be over 95% efficient (AFUE), compared to 70% or less for older models. This translates to significant savings on your monthly energy bills in BC.

Are there rebates for replacing my furnace in BC?

Yes, programs like CleanBC and FortisBC offer substantial rebates to help homeowners offset the cost of upgrading to a high-efficiency furnace. These incentives make replacement more affordable.

How does an old furnace affect air quality?

Old furnaces can circulate dust, mold, and allergens throughout your home, negatively impacting indoor air quality. This can worsen allergies and respiratory conditions for your family.

Why is delaying furnace replacement a financial gamble?

Continuing to run an old, inefficient furnace leads to higher energy bills and a cycle of increasingly expensive repairs. The cost of inaction can quickly add up to more than the price of a planned replacement.
